SENECA SYSTEMS™
ARCHITECTURAL STRIPPERS

A significant portion of the refinishing industry deals with the on-site removal of finishes prior to refinishing. The sites include homes, offices, churches, courthouses etc. When performing this type of work with questionable ventilation and exposure to the possibly toxic fumes, it is essential to use a stripper, which has a low toxicity and a low evaporation rate with a resulting low fume level. SENECA SYSTEMS™ architectural strippers are designed to meet these needs.

Solvent S-414 is a low vapor pressure, high flash point, pleasantly scented, low toxicity formulation. It is in gel form and is specifically designed for use by architectural refinishers to remove finishes (paint and varnish) from interior and exterior walls, moldings, doors, etc. It is user friendly and contains no harsh alkali or acid that can discolor fine wood.

As a result of its' unique composition SENECA SYSTEMS™ Solvent S-414 will not dry out for extended periods of time, thus allowing complete penetration of multiple coats of paint without the use of anti-evaporants such as paraffin wax. It may be applied by brush or spray. Coverage will average approximately 40 square feet per gallon. A formulation with detergent added to facilitate water rinsing of the stripped surface is available (add $0.15 per gallon). S-414 is available in 30-gallon drums and 5-gallon pails.

Stripping the old paint from doors and trim in houses and offices results in a waste which even when dry and solvent free is hazardous. This is a result of the old paint's content of toxic heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. SENECA SYSTEMS™ S-419 Stripping Cream solves that problem. S-419 contains Seneca Research's proprietary LEACH FREE™ heavy metal binder that prevents the leaching of heavy metals exposed to the conditions existing in landfills. Dried sludge derived from paint stripped with S-419 Stripping Cream was extracted using the EPA TCLP method 1311. The extract was analyzed for lead and cadmium by EPA method 6010. Both lead and cadmium in the extract were below detectable limits. According to the Federal EPA standards this sludge may be placed in your dumpster for disposal. This saves the high cost of hazardous waste disposal. S-419 is available in 5-gallon pails.
